We have been incredibly fortunate in that we received lottery funding for new carpeting throughout the centre - what an improvement!
Since then, we have also been awarded a share of the Big Lottery Cash for Communities Award funding (run through Herald Express) that will enable us to provide life skills training classes and workshops in a variety of subjects.  Thank you SO much to all who voted for us.  We are community driven, so please let us have your input on what you would like to see provided at CentrePeace.

Update!

29/09/2013

Sorry! We've been a bit lax in keeping the news up to date! Lisa has been away, cycling through France, and technophobe Terry has only just rediscovered how to update the site!!
We had a fantastic Open Day.  The weather stayed kind and we had a lot of fun.  Steve Laister and Jenny Louard were brilliant, opening the proceedings with some incredible singing, despite the fact that the park was almost empty at the time.  Their voices brought attention to the park, though , and it got gradually busier throughout the day.
Leah and Rachel were brilliant and a lot of fun with their Bollywood and Zumba dancing. Even Golem, the Rock Monster was inspired to dance! Ben Parris did a wonderful job, stepping in at the last minute (literally!) to fill some of the gap left by Chris Moore unavoidably having to cancel (I look forward to next time when Chris should be able to be with us!) and we had some lovely, timeless classics from Val and Ellen. Roc Creative's Samba Roc gave us a glorious performance and, in their bright orange and yellow costumes, brought the sunshine in with them! A heartfelt thank you to all the stall holders, too. Casey and the Brixham Beserkers kept everyone entertained with their live action role play and leatherwork crafting. Golem, the Rock Monster and Ikket the wood imp were most entertaining - thanks guys! Many thanks to Simon, Sasha and the others who took care of the hilarious Sumo Suit activity. Sarah, Lisa and Will provided lovely, tasty savoury and sweet treats on the food stall, while Laura painted many happy faces and made numerous balloon models! Thank you, Kim, for making such a good job of the tombola and Ella and Zara, thank you for manning the First Aid tent. I mustn't, of course, forget the Mayor who kindly dashed over to see us during his lunch hour and Bobbie Davies, our local ward councillor who spent most of the day with us. Their support is very much appreciated.

Our mayor, Gordon Oliver, joined us at lunchtime and enjoyed looking around the various stalls.  He has been a great support to CentrePeace, having donated £900 from his own fund to help equip our kitchen.

OPEN DAY TOMORROW!

03/09/2013

Though CentrePeace has been gradually opening its doors over the last couple of months, we have not yet had an official open day to announce our presence...until now! Come and visit us tomorrow (Wednesday 4th September) to find out what we're all about and more importantly to have fun! There will be plenty of activities to keep both kids and adults entertained including: live music (Steve Laister, Jenny Luard, Roc Samba Band plus many others), face painting, sumo suit wrestling, medieval games, leather craft, balloon modelling, zumba, reflexology and other complementary therapies, live action role play by the Brixham Berserkers and a special appearance by the Stone Golem! Also we've got a MEGA raffle with over 15 incredible prizes kindly donated by the local community, as well as a tombola.
Most of this will be taking place in Palace Avenue Gardens, a few steps from CentrePeace, however please do come and look around the centre too - find some bargains in our charity shop and revive yourself in our cafe. There will also be a refreshments stall in the gardens selling a wide range of yummy vegetarian snacks as well as cakes and other sweet treats.

Its going to be a fantastic day - don't miss out!!
